ANY Job is Better Than NO Job
We’ve all heard the phrase “Anything is better than nothing” and in
this case, I have to agree. Although it may not be the job you necessarily
want at the moment, it’s a start! Temporary jobs are great for obtaining
work experience and getting your foot in the door. It’s better to be making
a little something than a lot of nothing. You have to start from somewhere.
Check Out Multiple Job Boards
Put yourself out there! Sign yourself up on some job boards. Job
boards expands your job search and gives you a better chance of landing
the job that you are looking for. You can apply filters and select the exact
job you are looking for. Some examples of job boards are as followed:
Indeed, Glassdoor, Simply Hired, TFS Portal, etc.
Start connecting with people you know! Do you know anyone who
recently got a job? Don’t be scared to ask for advice/tips to see what
methods they took to land their job. Do you have a LinkedIn account? If
not, go make one now to start building your professional network! Also let
your family members/friends know you are job hunting, accept help from
everywhere that you can!
Get Out of Your House!
Okay so now you’ve sent out your application almost everywhere
electronically, time to have some face to face contact. People hire people.
Print out your resume and make a face to face connection with your
desired employer. You increase your chances of landing a job when the
employer can see you in person. Remember that first impressions are
everything so be the best you! After you have visited your employers don’t
end your search there! Start attending some networking events! No one
will ever recognize you if you don’t put yourself out there.
Don’t Lose Confidence in Your Abilities
The main thing is to ALWAYS stay POSITIVE! Not everything is going
to go as planned or the way you want it too but take a breath and don’t
give up! It’s easy to doubt yourself and your abilities when everything
seems to be falling apart but this should be the time that you praise
yourself even more! I know it sounds crazy but if you honestly know that
you are putting your all and trying your absolute best than that is all that
matters. Some things are out of your control. Doors close so that others can
be opened, meaning there will always be another opportunity.
